I started as a software engineer in 2015, but jumped ship to design when an opportunity presented itself. Its only now that I've grown acutely aware of the fleeing nature of titles and the overlapping nature of roles.
I do product, advice engineering while my PM does designs and the engineering team advices me on designs and I think that's perfectly okay. The work that I do, mostly aligns with that of a UX designer, but I'd prefer the title of a generalist, an expert in getting things done.
In a career spanning over 9 years I've worked with startups and enterprises including Legal Research Networks, App Dynamics, Guhring, Monash University, Gist, Social Capital amongst others.
For the last one year I've also been coding at night. It's not that I'm an engineering enthusiast, but I've come to understand that I'm most at peace, when I'm creating.
